Welcome to Woodwater Academy

We welcome visits to our school.  If you would like to come and see what we do, please call the school office and they will make an appointment for Mrs Leeson, our Head of School, to show you around and answer any questions you may have.

Woodwater Academy is part of the Primary Academies Trust (PAT).  The PAT was established in 2011 and this includes: Woodwater Academy, Sidbury C of E Primary School, Sampford Peverell C of E Primary School, Hemyock Primary School, Orchard Vale Community Primary School, South Brent Primary School, The Duchy Primary School and Wilcombe Primary School.  We have a “schools within school” philosophy that ensures we all work very closely together in partnership, ensuring achievement of the highest standards in all eight schools whilst maintaining their individuality and autonomy.  Our partnership provides excellent opportunities for teachers and other staff to develop their professional expertise, which directly impacts on the quality of teaching and learning for the children  We are sharing best practice within a professional learning community, developing exciting and innovative curricula for all our children.

Within all our schools we nurture communities focused on developing the skills needed for life long learning; hubs of excellence where children can achieve full potential in their academic, creative, personal, physical, moral and spiritual development.

We do not believe it is enough just to give children a grasp of the basic skills, we believe we need to help each individual child to use and develop those skills.  Schooling is about every aspect of human personality and achievement and so an important part of the work we do in school is promoting the sense of joy about learning.  Developing the children’s personal,  social and emotional skills starts in our Foundation Stage and remains important throughout each child’s time with us.

At Woodwater Academy are extremely proud of the positive relationships that we have with our families and the wider community in which they live.  It is our aim to work as one team in order to deliver the highest standards of education to all of our children.
