Welcome to Woodwater Academy
We welcome visits to our school. If you would like to come and see what we do, please call the school office and they will make an appointment for Mrs Leeson, our Head of School, to show you around and answer any questions you may have.
WoodwaterAcademy is part of the Children First Federation which was formed in March 2010. The Children First Federation consists of WoodwaterAcademy, Hemyock Primary, Wilcombe Primary, Sampford Peverell C of E and Sidbury C of E Primary School.
We have a “schools within school” philosophy that ensures we all work very closely together in partnership, ensuring achievement of the highest standards in all five schools whilst maintaining the individuality and autonomy of the individual schools.
Our Federation provides excellent opportunities for teachers and other staff to develop their professional expertise, which directly impacts on the quality of teaching and learning for the children. Staff are able to share their best practice within a professional learning community, developing an exciting and innovative curriculum for all our children.
The Children First Federation (CFF) www.thecff.org.uk is part of the Primary Academies Trust. The PAT was established on the 1st November 2011 and includes; The First Federation, Orchard Vale Primary, South Brent Primary and The CFF making a total of 13 primary schools. Being part of the PAT further increases our capacity to share best practice and specialisms, and to work in a collaborative way to provide high quality learning for all our children.
It is a community for life long learning, a hub of excellence where children can achieve full potential in their academic, creative, personal, physical, moral and spiritual development.
We believe it is not enough to give children a firm grasp of the basic skills, but that we also need to help each individual to use and develop those skills. Schooling is about every aspect of human personality and achievement and so an important part of the work we do in school is promoting the sense of joy about learning. Developing the children’s personal, social and emotional skills starts in our Foundation Stage and remains important throughout each child’s time with us.
At Woodwater Academy are extremely proud of the positive relationships that we have with our families and the wider community in which they live. It is our aim to work as one team in order to deliver the highest standards of education to all of our children.
